Garden Club

Longstock Water Garden View

Nadder Valley Gardening Club welcomes members from all the surrounding villages - anyone who likes gardening or visiting gardens can come and enjoy what we do. We go on expeditions (two or three a year) and have talks in the Village Hall (four or five times a year). We have a social gathering with entertainment, last year there were Morris Dancers.  The Club runs a stall at the Teffont Show and sells produce and recruits new members.

Recently, with Covid restrictions, our outings were curtailed but in 2021 we managed to visit gardens more locally among which were Heale House in the Woodford Valley, Cranborne Manor Gardens.

We try to find beautiful and unusual gardens to visit and we sometimes have a private tour. We have talks on a variety of topics – we have learned about George Engelhart and his planting of daffodils in Dinton and ‘A Meadow in my Garden’ from Paul Jupp.

Our meetings in the Village Hall are usually preceded with a glass of wine and a chance to chat with other members. The year culminates with a Christmas Quiz and supper in the Village Hall.  We are not all expert gardeners – we just share a love of gardens and a curiosity to learn more, and we are a very active and sociable club.
