The Church Community in Teffont

Attendance at church in Teffont has been growing over the last few years and we hope that this is as a result of the warm welcome which is given to anyone visiting for the first time by both the congregation and the Team Rector.

Useful names and contact details can be seen at the bottom of this page.

Baptism, Confirmation, Weddings and Funeral

If you need to discuss Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage or Funerals in Teffont please contact the Team Vicar (Contact details below) in the first instance, or if he is unavailable, one of the Churchwardens. We would also like to hear from you, if you or anyone you know would like a home visit from him. She is also happy to take Holy Communion to the housebound.

Baptism

We are always delighted to welcome a new member of God’s family in baptism, at any age! Children and adults can be baptised as well, it doesn’t just have to be babies. Baptism usually takes place in one of our Sunday services so that the Teffont congregation can be there to support you and make you feel at home.

Confirmation

Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey when someone affirms the faith into which they were baptised. Confirmation services take place at different churches in the area, or in the cathedral. Before the confirmation service, there are opportunities to learn more about the Christian faith you are about to declare.

Marriage

If you would like to get married in one of our lovely Teffont churches do get in touch. You don’t have to live in the parish to get married here; talk to Rev Southgate and he will explain how this can happen.

Funerals (Cremation and Burials)

The church can offer comfort and support when a loved one dies. There are many ways to celebrate the life of someone you have lost and to mark their passing, as they are committed to God’s eternal care. There can be a funeral in church that precedes a burial or cremation, or we can arrange a thanksgiving service later.

There is more information about all of these services on the Church of England website; go to:

www.churchofengland.org/weddings-baptisms-funerals and do make contact with the Team Vicar or the churchwardens. We would be delighted to help you!
