Postal Services

There are two post boxes in the Village, one on the wall of the graveyard opposite the Church in Teffont Magna and the other in Teffont Evias opposite the entrance to Holt  Lane.

There are Post Offices in Hindon, Wilton and Tisbury, but the nearest Post Office is the Fovant Post Office and Village Store. Opening hours are:

Mon - Sat 0900 - 2000

Sun 0900 -1500

Public Telephone Kiosk

There is one old-fashioned red public telephone box halfway down The Street, on the east side. It is a CARD only telephone and accepts no coins.

Refuse Collection/Skips

Rubbish, which may include one bag per household of garden waste, is normally collected by Wiltshire Council early on Wednesday mornings though, after Bank Holidays, this slips by at least a day. Cardboard and black boxes for recyclables are collected separately on alternate Wednesdays. 

Buses

Teffont has five buses per day to and from Salisbury (Route 25); timetables are displayed in each of the bus shelters (Click here to link to Salisbury Red Bus website). There are also Lever’s coaches into Salisbury on Tuesdays and Saturdays (market days there) and to both Tisbury and Warminster on Thursdays.

Tisbus

This is a community minibus service (with four mini-buses), the use of which can be booked by telephoning 01747 870995; its purpose is to provide economic transport for the residents of Tisbury and surrounding villages. Currently, on Tuesdays there is a regular visit to Salisury and on Thursdays to Shaftesbury. Provided you have “joined” the scheme (at a cost of £2 per year) it will collect you from your home and return you to it. If you have a bus pass, there is no charge. On other days, it may be booked for visits to hospitals or the dentist. There is also a monthly schedule of outings using one of the mini-buses. The mini-buses are also available for private hire.

Notice Boards

In addition to the Parish Council notice boards, which are kept locked with the Clerk holding the keys, there is an unlocked notice board for village use by Magna graveyard wall and a small one half way down Teffont Evias on the right.

Playgroup

The nearest nursery education is available at Dinton Pre-School which, is at Nadder Valley Nursery between Dinton and Teffont on the B3089 Tel 01722 716011.

Banks

Nearest banks are in Salisbury.

There are 3 practices whose doctors will take on National Health patients within the Village:

Dr P Craig-McFeely The Surgery, Hindon Tel 01747 820222 Telephone 8.45 to 6.30 on Mon, Wed and Fri and 8.45 to 12.30 on Tues and Thurs for an appointment.

Dr L Kinlin, Spring Orchard, High Street, Fovant Tel 01722 714789; this is connected to a larger practice at Wilton.

Dentists

Tisbury Dental Centre is a private practice Tel 01747 870743 (Click here to link to site). The Wilton practice Tel 742100 does very limited National Health work, otherwise you have to go to Salisbury ADP Dental Practice is an option Tel: 01722 410320.

Wiltshire Police Booklet - Herbert Protocol

Wiltshire police booklet called the Herbert Protocol is a booklet for persons who have a vulnerable adult in their household. It is designed to complete a profile of the person identified and to keep it handy in case the individual goes missing. The booklet then has appropriate details readily available for the police to have.

Manor Farm Veterinary Surgery on Green Road, Codford Tel 01985 850752 is the closest.

Longmead Veterinary Practice is based in Shaftesbury but has a surgery in Tisbury. Appointment times are Monday - Friday from 2.30pm, with an open surgery Wednesday morning 9am - 12.30pm, and appointments Saturday from 12.30pm. Tel 01747 852064.

Avon Lodge Veterinary Group from Salisbury run surgeries in Wilton morning and evening on weekdays Tel 01722 742332.

Dog Boarding
